Turns out there isn't much to do in Medellin. Observations so far (in order of abundance): pollution, barefoot men taking naps on the streets, hills (doesn't bode well for our Machu Picchu trek), and bad haircuts.
On the bright side, our hotel has american TV - Queer Eye for the Straight Guy has never been so good.
Checked out a museum yesterday with a huge Botero collection. Also caught a parade around Parque Bolivar...very Columbian - everyone was in fatigues, which was, well, pretty freaky. We then took the [very clean and safe] subway system to the Parque Lleras area for some afternoon cocktails. We knew it was a nice neighborhood after passing a packed Hooters.
Today: jumped on one of the metro system's three cable cars for an eye-opening view of the mountain side barrios. Very interesting.
Killing time until dinner...
Wow sounds like a real eye opening cultural experience. Maybe you should send the queer eye for the straight guys to take care of those bad haircuts. Well looks like you made the most of it today. And impressed that between the pollution and Hooters you were able to find time for a museum. Just a good conclusion that you may never have to visit Medellin again.
