Last leg of the trip...and it's been a great one. Started off with two and a half days in Istanbul - very interesting city. Much more modern than we expected (and stylish!), though the old traditions and Muslim roots still shine through. Spent a day at the sights (hot and VERY crowded) and another roaming the ritzy neighborhood our hotel was in.
Food is incredible here. Ate at Kosebasi for kebabs twice in 24 hours...Jennie, thanks for the recommendation again. Micah is still talking about it in his sleep. Mohs - special shout out - the doner kebab joints are off the chain. Rumor has it they are tipping 32 on Zagat.
So eager to hear how the 'Turkey' decision was made and to get your read on the culture there. There's a conservative movement afoot to inject more religious consideration in government policy...wonder if you sensed it. More meat!!! I'm researching NYC detox centers for you to visit upon your return home. Love, Mom/Maureen
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great pictures from Istanbul. Cool that you discovered and stayed in the trendy neighborhood of the city. Must have been an interesting contrast between young yip and traditional religious. Anyways, thanks for all the stories, the pictures, and the excitement everyday of being able to be in touch although you were so far away.
ReplyDeleteLove to both,
Annie
