Oh boy, I thought the scary moments that involved dropping thousands of feet were over. But I suppose if you were going to risk your life again, a birthday is a memorable day to do it. Good use of the Flip...made the experience palpable for us scaredy cats. HAPPY BIRTHDAY again, Biddy Boo! 143, Mom
Sue, many thanks for your anniversay wishes. Vic and I thought about paragliding to celebrate the occasion, but decided on the very dangerous option of having dinner in a restaurant instead, which we survived quite well, it seems. It has been fun watching Micah and Biz experience this fantastic trip. Wonderful memories, for sure. Sounds like you are/were in San Francisco with the newlyweds...hope the trip went well. Maureen
I should be thrilled that you used the word "success" instead of "scary", right? I;m not quite sure I understand the full effect of the para-gliding. But it looks like you are smiling, Biz, which is a good thing. What's next? A rocket launch?
I especially like the whooshing noises in take two and then the giggles...hmmmmm.
Maureen, I, too, would have opted for the safe restaurant option. Len is at the local catholic high school fundraiser with a friend of ours whose wife is out of town so the go together each year. After a lot of macho bravado (enhanced by free libations) they purchase some item that comes directly out of left field. Last year it was a hot air balloon ride. That one just about did me in. This year I made sure there were no death defying items to bid on. I didn't see any, so I think I'm safe. I'll report tomorrow...
I had a great time with the newly weds. They are traveling to Paris and Berlin tomorrow for a week. It'll be interesting to see if their flight goes as planned.
Off to garden for a bit. ...Take care all! Mom/Sue
Sue you may be right that the next stunt could be a rocket launch, this is getting more and more adventurous as we watch and read.
Biz and Micah I admire you sense of adventure, wish I could do the same but I think I would pass out before I would even have a chance to capture the landscape below me.
Biz what a great way to go out with a bang for your birthday! Must have been even more difficult to have to go a second attempt off the cliff. I think after the first I would have run the other way.
Anyways, what a thrill!!
Sounds like your had an amazing day and a wonderful Birthday!
BTW, I was reading in Bon Appetit magazine in which they mentioned The world's best hotel bars and this place in Buenos Aires was mentioned. Thought I would pass it along.
Lobby bar at Alvear Palace Hotel: Built in 1932, when royalty flocked to the Paris of South America. Have a Gran Alvear cocktail. Avenida Alvear 1891. 011-5411-4808-2100. alvnearpalace.com
Happy Belated Bday Biz (I just got the blog address from T).... I thought I had a pretty fantastic bday celebration myself, until I saw your post! :) Just kidding. We had a great bday here...Brian hired a chef who cooked a gourmet meal for us and four other couples. It was a lot of fun! Looks like you are having a wonderful time! I'm happy to be able to follow the rest of your trip on this blog! We are just back from Paris and London with the girls, so we have the travel bug and will enjoy living vicariously through your and Micah's photos. Safe travels! Eileen
